As part of his/her relationships with others, a character will often have duties, i.e. connections who can call on him/her for favours, or in a more severe case can order him/her around or control his/her life. The referee may be keen for characters to have a Duties aspect, because it provides a good mechanism for involving the character in adventures.
The character points value of Duties depends on how often the duties interfere with the character's life:
Frequency of duties | cp value |
Rarely (less than 10% of adventures) | -1 |
Infrequently (approximately 20% of adventures) | -2 |
Frequently (about 50% of adventures) | -3 |
All the time (100% of adventures) | -4 |
The character points value also depends on the form of the duties that the character suffers:
Level of duties | multiplier |
Asks for favours | x 1 |
Orders minor chores (e.g. ancillary to main adventure) | x 2 |
Orders major tasks (e.g. main adventures) | x 3 |
Requires total devotion (e.g. life-threatening situations) | x 4 |
