When, on an adventure, a character needs to remember a fact or a detail (that the referee has previous given, i.e. that the character has come across before), he/she will do so if he/she makes a dice roll using his/her Memory (including relevant specialisms) + IQ.
The difficulty of the dice roll depends on the circumstances when the character last came across the information:
Circumstances | Difficulty value |
Within the last day | 4 |
Within the last few days | 7 |
Within the last week | 10 |
Within the last month | 13 |
Within the last year | 16 |
Character spent at least a minute studying the information at the time and consigning it to memory | -3 |
Character was concentrating on memorising the information at the time, but did not spend extra time consigning it to memory | +0 |
Character was aware of the information at the time, but did not particularly concentrate on memorising it or was distracted at the time | +3 |
Character did not understand the information (e.g. words in a foreign language that he/she did not speak) at the time that he/she memorised it | +3 |
