2.42.1 Remembering details

When, on an adventure, a character needs to remember a fact or a detail (that the referee has previous given, i.e. that the character has come across before), he/she will do so if he/she makes a dice roll using his/her Memory (including relevant specialisms) + IQ.

The difficulty of the dice roll depends on the circumstances when the character last came across the information:

Circumstances Difficulty value
Within the last day 4
Within the last few days 7
Within the last week 10
Within the last month 13
Within the last year 16
Character spent at least a minute studying the information at the time and consigning it to memory -3
Character was concentrating on memorising the information at the time, but did not spend extra time consigning it to memory +0
Character was aware of the information at the time, but did not particularly concentrate on memorising it or was distracted at the time +3
Character did not understand the information (e.g. words in a foreign language that he/she did not speak) at the time that he/she memorised it +3
