When a character attempts to conduct music, i.e. keep a group of musicians in syncronisation throughout a piece of music, he/she should make a dice roll using his/her Music (including conducting specialisms) + PE. The character gets a +2 bonus if the group has rehearsed the tune beforehand, a +2 bonus if all of the group deliver at least a competent performance, a further +2 bonus if all of the group deliver a good performance, and finally a +2 bonus if any of the main performers delivers an excellent performance.
The dice roll result determines how good the overall performance sounds to listeners, as follows:
Dice roll result | Meaning |
3 or lower | Abysmal performance - the group breaks down and has to stop part way through |
3 1/2 - 6 | Poor performance - the group makes it through the tune but makes quite a few mistakes or is out of time |
6 1/2 - 10 | Competent performance - the group plays in tune and in time |
10 1/2 - 15 | Good performance - the group delivers a professional quality performance |
15 1/2 or more | Excellent performance - the group delivers an inspired performance that enthralls the audience |
