The basic mechanisms for unarmed combat are the same as for basic combat (i.e. use of combat "board", actions, action points, attack and defence dice rolls and damage dice rolls). Unarmed combat simply provides a character with some additional unarmed combat maneuvers to choose from, in addition to the basic combat maneuvers. One difference that applies to many unarmed combat maneuvers is that they take place when the attacker and target are very close together (i.e. in the same hex). Such combat is known as close combat.
